Berlin, Germany
Berlin is the capital and one of the 16 states of the Federal Republic of Germany. Located in northeastern Germany, it is the center of the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan area, which includes 4.9 million people from more than 180 countries. Berlin is the center of European politics, culture, media and science.
The metropolis is home to world-renowned universities, research institutes, sporting events, orchestras, museums and celebrities. Renowned for its festivals, contemporary architecture, nightlife and avant-garde art, Berlin has become a focal point for individuals attracted to the liberal lifestyle and modern zeitgeist (“zeitgeist”). As the capital of wealthy and technologically powerful Germany, whose economy is the fifth largest in the world.
Berlin is home to 153 museums, including the Altes Museum (Old Museum), which has a bust of Queen Nefertiti, the Pergamon Museum, the Bode Museum, the Jewish Museum, the German Technical Museum in Kreuzberg, and the Humboldt Museum of Nature. A history that has the world’s largest mounted dinosaur and the best-preserved archeopteryx specimen.
Art galleries include the Gemäldegalerie (Picture Gallery), which focuses on “Old Masters” paintings from the thirteenth to the eighteenth century, the Nene Nationalgalerie, which specializes in twentieth[1]century European painting, and the Hamburger Bahnhof, which exhibits a significant collection of modern and contemporary art.
